I was desperately looking for the silver lining – something positive I could take away from the situation. I grasped at all the clichés: It’s for the best; I’m better off without the drama; I can now get on with my life. But none of them stuck. I continued to be consumed by loss. Ninety-seven days later, I finally saw the silver. It glistened with new hope. Things looked different – brighter, nuanced, charged. I let go of the clouds, the storms, the darkness. As they faded from view, the true silver became visible. I could breathe again. I embraced my freedom.
