How is it that photos capturing happy moments can be the source of so much sadness? All I wanted for my birthday was to have a couple of beers beside the river as the sun went down. It was a simple birthday wish and one that was easily accomplished. It was made even better by good food and great company. I was happy. And yet, I now look at a photo of that moment and struggle to connect with that happiness. Instead, I feel loss. I know the happy will return but now there is only sadness in my heart.
