It amazes me how cats slip so easily into a zen-like meditative state. They can stare at a leaf for hours and when you ask them how they’re going, they (may) turn your way with a look of “Yes, unenlightened one, what do you want?” This is what I admire about them – they are so content in their own space. They seriously don’t seem to give a damn about us mere humans. And yet they depend on us – for food, emergency healthcare, occasional affection and, of course, after the ecstasy, the laundry basket of clean clothes on which to nap.
