100happywords: 37. Nap
I’ve not always been a napper.
For much of my life I’ve been a caffeinator – pushing through mid-afternoon slumps with a little help from my stimulant friend.
I only discovered the power of the nap quite recently – after an extended, stressful period left my body exhausted. I set about napping daily until my body’s balance restored.
I worked out that my optimal nap time is 90 minutes and it’s best practised siesta-style, after lunch.
My favourite nap spot is my parents’ daybed – a beautiful piece of mid-20th-Century furniture that affirms the nap’s role in everyday life.
All hail the nap.
