I went for tomatoes – and came home with bananas, strawberries, avocados, pak choy, asparagus and, um, tomatoes. I don’t even know if I save money or get better quality produce than the local shop. There’s just something very special about going down to my local markets every Saturday morning – flitting between the veggie stalls, breathing in the freshly ground coffee, moving to the sounds of local musicians, ogling the artisan cheese, telling myself I really don’t need a second breakfast of souvlaki, and shuffling, stop-start, shoulder-to-shoulder as the human river flows through the park, under the giant figs.
