There was a time when an invite to a party, or even a boozy night out with friends, would always include the addendum, “Oh, and can you bring brownies?”

The chocolate brownies were notorious, not for any nefarious additives, but because they were stupidly delicious. Fortunately they were also simple to make.

They are still one of my favourite sweet treats and, I’m sorry, but few other brownies compare.

So once perfection has been attained, to what does one aspire?

I believe my sister-in-law has discovered the next level in culinary treats.

I give you the cheesecake brownie.
