This summer I returned to the pool. People often associate exercise with losing weight. I find exercise most beneficial for its impact on my mood. It’s hard to be grumpy, anxious or stressed when all my energy is going into getting oxygen to my lungs. Those troubling thoughts that have been tumbling around my mind all day now have less airtime. And then the body releases all those endorphins and life looks so much shinier. Or perhaps it’s the blood finally getting to my brain and, with clarity of thought, I realise all those little things really don’t matter. Splash!
