How lucky we are to have strawberries in abundance for a few months a year.
My favourite strawberries come from Eumundi, near where I used to live in the Sunshine Coast hinterland.
I never quibbled about paying full price for them as they were locally grown and always sublime.
With ice-cream, chocolate, cream, on cakes or pavlovas or simply on their own, there is no sweeter fruit than the strawberry.
It may even be the only fruit that has its own zen tale attesting to its transcendent qualities.
It’s a happy day when the first strawberries of the season arrive.
