100happywords: 30. Blossom
It must be the way the light is captured on its fluffy, tendril-like flowers but I’m drawn immediately to the glowing, white orbs. Instead of petals, the flower has hundreds of stamens radiating from the base, so fine they glisten in the afternoon sun. I’m mesmerised. That such beauty can thrive in this inhospitable environment of concrete and steel gives me pause. The right seed in the right place with the right care, I remind myself, that’s how things grow. As the light fades I watch its hue change. The shining moment has passed and yet it continues to blossom.
