100happywords: 17. Mock Orange
It was a balmy autumn afternoon and as I was leaving work I was overwhelmed by the intoxicating perfume of the flowering shrub lining the driveway.
For some reason, my mind immediately thought “ahh jasmine” and I photographed the flower to capture the moment.
It was only later when sharing the image on social media that I found out it was actually Marraya paniculata, also commonly known as Mock Orange or Orange Jessamine, and is regarded as a weed in the region I used to live.
From this unexpected sensory experience, my knowledge and appreciation of the natural environment grew.
